Eventually, the pain was enough that Randa asked for an epidural. And then we had to ask for another after the first only numbed one side of her body and the technician for did it said, “Well, we said that an epidural is effective only 80% of the time and sometimes that’s just the way it is.” When our nurse came back and heard what the technician had said, she brought an anesthesiologist back to re-do the epidural. This time it worked 100%. It was an uncomfortable night, but both Mark and Randa were able to get a little sleep. By 6:00 am Randa was dilated to 9 centimeters. We were excited that our little one would come soon.
However, things did not happen, literally. Randa did not progress and at even one point her contractions stopped.

Pitocin was given and eventually the contractions resumed.Around mid-afternoon, after and hour of pushing, it was discovered the Megan was facing the wrong way. The doctor then decided that a C-Section was necessary. The OR was open and waiting for Randa (they even postponed another surgery so they could get Randa in quickly). Once inside everything went smoothly. At 5:48 pm Megan made her appearance into the world.
