Four Months Old

Wow, can you believe that I am four moths old now!!! Mom and Dad can't. They say I'm growing up too fast. It has been a crazy month for our family. It all started out when Mom discovered that our back yard has poison ivy in it. She was mowing the yard and bagging the clippings. She also cut back some vines that were growing through the fence. Well, those vines ended up being poison ivy. She got it all over her arms. From there it spread to her legs and tummy. She was very miserable for a long time. I tried to be extra good for her.

Unfortunately, I got sick too. At first Mom and Dad thought I was cutting my first tooth since I was drooling a lot and had a low grade fever. Then one night my fever reached 102 degrees and Mom called the doctor. I went in the next day and was diagnosed with Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease. It is a nasty virus that is very contagious. I don't know where I got it from but I was miserable. I had blisters on the back of my throat that made it very painful to swallow. I was really hungry, but it hurt for me to eat. The reason the virus is called Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease is because it is usually accompanied by a rash on the palms of the hands, the bottom of the feet and around the mouth. Fortunately I only got the rash around my mouth. After several days of sleeping and eating and sleeping again and eating again, I started to feel better. I got over it in about a week and now I am back to normal.

Right after I got better, Dad got poison ivy. He was in the backyard cutting down the vines growing through our fence. He knew it was poison ivy and took precautions, but it wasn't enough. He got it really bad on his arms. It was so bad that for several days he couldn't hold me. He is doing a lot better now. He still has the rash, but it doesn't itch nearly as bad as it had. Our landlord has come out and cut all the vines down and sprayed for poison ivy, poison oak, and poison sumac.

Well, here is my most recent accomplishment: I can eat my toes!!! I just discovered that I have feet and that I can actually get my toes in my mouth. Mom wishes she was this flexible.
